Sophie Mirabella Is The Worst, but Christian Porter Wants Her on the FWC

Former Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella has been announced as Christian Porter's pick to take the next available spot as a Fair Work Commissioner at a salary of $387,000 a year.

For those who don't remember Sophie, here she is doing totally normal things for a Member of Parliament.

For those who don't remember Sophie, here she is doing totally normal things for a Member of Parliament.

Quite simply, Sophie Mirabella is the worst, and we've compiled a list of 10 reasons why she absolutely should not be confirmed for this position where she will have massive power over workers' lives.

  1. Take another look at the above photo.

  2. She has said, "Unions damage investment and destroy jobs."

  3. She argues that "the imposition of good faith bargaining is a backwards step."

  4. As Tony Abbott's industry spokesperson, she was responsible for a plan to take half a billion dollars away from Australia's car industry when it was needed most.

  5. In 2016, having lost her seat in Parliament, she went to work for Gina Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting, a company that routinely tries to avoid paying decent wages to workers in Australia.

  6. She boycotted the Australian Government's apology to the Stolen Generation, saying there was no evidence of children being stolen or policies of forced removal in Victoria.

  7. She has called union leaders "thugs" and "spivs" in the past.

  8. She was one of the Howard Government's most vocal supporters of WorkChoices.

  9. She blamed her election loss on "the left-wing media", GetUp!, unions and "Melbourne-based feminists".

  10. Scroll back up and look at that photo again. What an absolute shocker.

There it is. That's the list. This is the person Christian Porter and Scott Morrison want sitting on the Fair Work Commission.

Does it sound like she shares the values of Australian workers?

Do you think a person like this be viewed as impartial enough to preside over industrial disputes with any kind of fairness?
