Climate justice is union business. The Just Transitions team at Trades hall is working to ensure that decarbonising our economy also results in secure jobs, strong communities, and fair outcomes for all workers.
A “just transition” means putting workers at the centre of climate action. We support workers in emissions-intensive industries while creating new, high-quality union jobs in sectors like offshore wind and renewable energy.
We work closely with our affiliates to drive campaigns on critical issues such as oil and gas decommissioning, Paid Disaster Leave, and extreme weather safety. We advocate for practical solutions, like our Cheaper Homes For Workers program which supports households to electrify and cut energy bills while improving comfort at home.
Our work also includes making government submissions, working with Renew Australia For All, and helping make the historic Trades Hall itself more sustainable.
Through initiatives like our model Paid Disaster Leave clause, we’re ensuring workers can care for their families and communities in times of crisis.
