Need help with your rights at work?
Every worker in Australia - regardless of visa status - has the right to a safe workplace with good working conditions and wages.
But if your employer breaks the law or treats you unfairly, it can be hard to know what to do.
Victorian Trades Hall Council was established by Victoria’s first working people in unions, to empower workers through education and to campaign for better rights.
There is power in a union
No matter what work you do, you should join your union to benefit from collective support at work, expert legal advice, and strength in workplace negotiations. Union members earn, on average, $251 more per week than non-members - so it’s a smart move.
Being a union member lifts wages and conditions for everyone, and investments in your career through union membership are tax deductible.
If you are a member of your union you can get advice and support from your workplace delegate or, if appropriate, legal support. Contact your union directly.
Crisis support
Victorian workers can access a number of support services through Trades Hall to assist with unfair dismissal, wage theft, workplace visa issues, safety concerns and more.
