We know that young women workers are more vulnerable to gendered violence and sexual harassment in the workplace due to power imbalances and entrenched misogyny.
This is abundantly clear through our own recent campaigns in the Young Workers Centre against Honey Birdette and Karen's Diner; two workplaces notorious for sexual harassment. We've also seen an increase annually in the number of sexual harassment claims we receive in our legal centre. We need to take action - this is not on.
International Women's Day - historically International Working Women's Day - is not about pink-washed girl-power corporate displays, but about taking action to demand change.
Can we count on you to join us on Wednesday the 8th March, 5 pm? We will be meeting on the steps of Trades Hall before walking down to Treasury Building.
Here is our access key for the event!
NB. We'll also be painting banners on Thursday the 2nd of March at 6pm at Trades Hall. RSVP here.
