Volunteers are handing out a cheeky flyer at 100 Victorian train stations this morning, and 50 other locations around Australia.
Our 1 April campaign flyer questions who's behind Peter Dutton's key economic policies.
Luke Hilakari, Secretary of Trades Hall, said unionists were handing out material to call attention to the Liberals' harmful industrial relations agenda.
"People deserve to know what's on the ballot" he said. "Peter Dutton has made no secret of where his loyalties lie. The Liberal Party exists to harm working people, remove our rights, and drive down Australian wages to benefit the very rich."
"The Liberal Party couldn't care less about workers and is philosophically opposed to universal healthcare, fair funding for public education, and quality public services."
"Rich and powerful people are used to buying whatever they wish. They buy newspapers, they buy ads, they buy access to politicians"
"But Australian democracy is not for sale. Australians aren't going to let billionaires dictate our politics."
Volunteers reported that the public responded well to the materials. "We got quite a lot of laughs. Some people got a bit of a shock seeing Peter Dutton's face first thing in the morning. But once they heard what we were about people were really responsive" said one volunteer.
