VTHC Organiser Induction Day

We're excited to be hosting a half-day VTHC Organiser Day at Victorian Trades Hall, on Tuesday 2 December, from 9.15am - 1pm, with lunch provided afterwards.

This is a chance for Victorian union organisers to connect with the Trades Hall team, learn about the support and services we provide to unions, and explore the proud history of the Victorian union movement.


By the end of the half day session Organisers will:

  • Understand the purpose and role of VTHC
  • Know how to access VTHC's services
  • Know how to get involved in events, training and campaigns run by VTHC
  • Feel comfortable reaching out to VTHC for support and collaboration
  • Understand the history of the movement

Agenda

9.15am Welcome to VTHC

9.45am – Panel 1: Organising workers 

Featuring Women’s team, Young Workers Centre and Migrant Workers Centre

Learn how these teams sign up union members, engage activists, and develop new clauses like reproductive health leave.

10.15am - Trades Hall Tour 

Learn about the history of the Victorian union movement.

11.15am – Morning Tea

11.30am – Panel 2: OHS, union support and injured workers 

Featuring OHS, Union Assist, and the Victorian Labour College

Find out how VTHC supports unions and workers through research, rallies, and government advocacy. Discover tools like AskRenata, RenataBOT, and the Injured Workers Support Network, and learn about training options for organisers and members.

12 noon – Panel 3: Campaigning and Advocating for change 

Featuring Campaigns Team, Politics and Research Team, Comms & Digital and Just Transitions Team

Explore how Trades Hall drives statewide campaigns, supports affiliates’ fights and builds worker power to impact change. 

12.30pm – Application, feedback and close

1pm – Lunch
