Women Onsite have partnered with Whittlesea Community Centre to deliver a Try a Trade Day to provide women interested in working in trades industry with practical experience across three trades. During the day, you will participate in three hands-on workshops to learn more about the trades industry and network with a carpenter, plumber and painter. You will have the chance to chat with the Women Onsite team about the program, next steps and apprenticeships. Lunch will be provided – bring along some water, closed shoes and plenty of questions about trades!
Carpentry – You will be sighting pieces of timber and using a nail gun to get an understanding of what being a carpenter on big jobs is like.
Plumbing – Joining, bending and brazing copper tubes that are used in plumbing systems.
Painting – You will refurbish surfaces; fill in holes, sand down surfaces and paint.
