Every worker deserves to be safe and respected at work, but for many hospitality workers, this isn’t the case. Sexual harassment, gender-based violence and hostile workplace cultures are all too common- upheld by insecure work, wage theft and unstable and unreliable working conditions.
The Safe Venues project is a worker-driven project addressing these systemic issues to create safe and reliable hospitality workplaces.
It's time for industry change, and you can be part of it.
All workers are entitled to a safe workplace, and all employers have a duty to create and maintain them. We are working to create hospitality workplaces where workers are treated fairly and are safe and respected.
Change comes when workers stand together.
We will bring workers together to share our experiences at work, learn about our rights at work, support one another to make changes in our workplaces, develop resources for workers, and advocate for change in our industry.
When workers are informed about their rights and are empowered to exercise them, work is safer, fairer, and more respectful.
Sign up at the top of this page to be kept up to date about upcoming free training, events and hospo catch ups.
Come to a Safe Venues chat where we come together to have a conversation about our lived experiences at work - what we like, what needs to change, and how we can work collectively to advocate for that change.
Share your experience via our Safe Venues Survey and let us know what you think needs to change the most in the industry. Your input will help us develop resources to help you and your co-workers understand your rights and develop practical skills to make change happen.
