Mission Critical - Climate Policy for a Net Zero Australia

On Friday, 15 March you are invited to join rockstar economist Prof. Mariana Mazzucato, ACTU President Michele O’Neil, and renewable industry leader Katherine McConnell for a free invite-only symposium!

This is a major, conversation-shaping event. If you’re a trade unionist, a clean industry professional, or a climate advocate (or all three!), you won’t want to miss it.

Prof. Mazzucato is one of the world’s leading progressive economists. Her best-selling books – including Mission Economy and The Entrepreneurial State – have redefined the conversation on the role of the public sector and civil society in creating value, driving innovation, and tackling some of the world’s biggest challenge.

She has advised leaders and governments around the world on how to leverage bold public investments and reforms to achieve net zero climate goals while creating good union jobs, revitalising communities, and generating more value for the public, not just corporate shareholders.

On 15 March, she’ll be coming to Melbourne to discuss how Australia can use this bold industry policy to seize our once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalise the Australian economy while saving the planet; and how conditions around fair work, decent pay, local content, and just transition are critical to that success.

The event is being co-hosted by the Australian Council of Trade Unions, the Electrical Trades Union, the United Workers Union, the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, and the Australian Workers Union, alongside allies in clean industry.
