Making Workplaces Climate Safe

Making Workplaces Climate Safe

Climate Change is accelerating. The UN recently reported that in 9 years time, the world will have reached 1.5 degrees of warming. This is going to have massive impacts on health and safety at work. Already serious risks such as heat stress, extreme weather, climate anxiety and occupational violence will get worse without empowered HSRs and workers.

In this liveshow and education session, Dr. Todd Denham and Professor Lauren Rickards from the RMIT who wrote a seminal report on the impacts of climate change on workplace health and safety 'Climate Impacts at Work' will be speaking to HSRs and workers. After this, we'll all get together to discuss and learn how to:

  • Identify risks and hazards associated with climate change in your workplaces.
  • Understand the many ways that climate change will impact health and safety (both physical and mental) at our workplaces.
  • Discuss strategies that HSRs and workers can take to control these risks going forward.

This is also a chance to learn from each other. HSRs and workers know what is best for their workplaces and your answers will be vital for research into creating climate safe workplaces. Organised workers and health and safety reps are crucial in the fight to creating climate resilience in the future. Climate change is one of the defining issues of our generation. Will you attend this event and be a part of tackling the climate crisis?
