We are inviting all health care workers to attend a public forum to discuss wage theft in the Victorian public healthcare system, including the results of a recent survey conducted by ASMOF in relation to the impact this issue is having on junior doctors in Victoria.
The problem
Our public healthcare system has, for too long, relied on the systematic unpaid overtime of junior doctors to care for sick and injured Victorians.
Junior doctors are burnt out. Many are leaving the profession.
This is a serious issue, that goes to the question of whether our State Government takes our public healthcare system seriously.
It also raises questions as to whether the State Government takes wage theft seriously.
Junior doctors have been forced to fight in court for three years now just to receive their basic entitlements. Despite recent significant legal victories in their favour, they are being forced to continue to fight in court. That shouldn’t happen under a State Government that claims it is serious about stamping out wage theft.
That's why we are banding together to demand our public health services and State Government put an end to wage theft within our hospitals.
The forum
The forum will hear from doctors, ASMOF and AMA representatives, and others about the ongoing concerns regarding the underpayment of staff within our hospitals.
The forum will discuss the results of an ASMOF survey regarding the overtime performed by junior doctors, and the approach of the Victorian State Government and Health Services to this issue.
Gordon Legal will also be there to answer any questions regarding the ongoing class actions in relation to the underpayment of Victorian junior doctors.
Join us in discussing these important issues. Free drinks provided. RSVP below.
