HSR Refresher OHS Training Course - Psychological Health

Under Section 67 of the OHS Act 2004, all elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and Deputy HSRs are entitled to attend a 1-day WorkSafe-approved HSR Refresher OHS Training Course every year they hold office, after completing any 5-Day HSR Initial Course.

HSRs have the right to:

• Choose the course, in consultation with their employer

• Attend on paid time

• Have the employer cover the course and associated costs

Who should attend?

The HSR Refresher OHS training course - Psychological Health course is open to all HSRs and DHSRs who have attended any 5-day HSR Initial OHS course.

The course covers:

• A refresher on key rights and powers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004

• What constitutes psychological health

• Real-world examples of psychological health in the workplace

• How HSRs can identify risks and use their powers to address psychological health as a health and safety issue

Why it matters:

On 1 December 2025 the Occupational Health and Safety Psychological Health Regulations 2025 came into effect in Victoria. Psychological health is no longer something employers can ignore and as HSRs you need to be equipped to enforce these rights in the workplace.

That’s why we’re recommending all HSRs and Deputy HSRs complete this new Refresher course to build the knowledge and understanding of your powers under the Act and the confidence and practical skills to raise health and safety concerns related to psychological health.
