Geelong Council is on track to recommend that councillors axe the Home Care Package Program. This federally-funded program provides at-home support for senior members of our community, allowing them to live happily and safely in their own homes and keeps pressure off retirement care facilities.
But it's all at risk, and council officers have recommended it be scrapped.
This will result in a massive loss of 220 jobs, and leave 3000 residents who rely on these services in the lurch.

Councils should be for people, not for profit. We can't afford to lose these services.
So ASU members and supporters are taking action, rallying to let voting councillors know that we will not let them demolish these vital programs without a fight.
