Surviving online abuse and harassment, and how to fight back!
Misogynistic harassment is a feature for working women in online spaces from politics, media and advocacy to academia and more.
Join us for a special Feminism at the Hall event with international guest Nina Jankowicz, author of How to Be a Woman Online and How to Lose the Information War. Called the essential handbook for fighting against online harassment, How to Be a Woman Online provides a step-by-step plan for dealing with harassment, abuse, doxing and disinformation in online spaces drawing on research into the treatment of US Vice President Kamala Harris.
Nina will be joined by Van Badham, Guardian Australia columnist, theatre-maker, activist and author of QAnon And On: A Short and Shocking History of Internet Conspiracy Cults. This not to be missed Feminism at the Hall will be facilitated by Wil Stracke, Victorian Trades Hall Council Assistant Secretary and avid TikToker.
This event is for anyone interested in women's safety, disinformation and fighting back against online abuse and harassment.
Nina Jankowicz is a globally-recognised expert on disinformation and its impact on democratic institutions. She is one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in AI, the author of two highly regarded books about disinformation and counter-disinformation strategy and has advised governments, international organisations, and tech companies, and testified before the US Congress, UK Parliament, and European Parliament.
This is a free event, registration essential. Van and Nina will be doing book signings and a new range of We Are Union merch will be for sale!
