Access Key - YES! Voice Gala

Getting there

Victorian Trades Hall Council is located on the corner of Lygon St and Victoria St in Carlton South.

Trades Hall is a 600 metre walk from Melbourne Central Station. The Melbourne Central tram stop is wheelchair accessible.

There is limited on-street parking around Lygon St and Victoria St. We suggest planning in advance and carefully checking the parking limitations.

The 200 and 207 bus lines stop directly outside Trades Hall.

Enter Trades Hall through the main Lygon St entrance. The entrance to Trades Hall has a number of steps.

Wheelchair access is available via wheelchair lift or via the boomgates on the North side of the Lygon St building. There will be signage and staff members on hand to point you in the right direction. If you need assistance call Edwina on 0409 017 140.

Entering the venue

The ETU Ballroom and the Fringe Common Rooms are up one flight of steps. There is also lift access. There will be signs posted outside and in the halls directing you to the right place.

All doors will be propped open throughout the event.

Inside the venue

The ETU Ballroom and Common Rooms are large rooms with polished floorboards. There is a small stage in each room which guests will not need to access.

The ETU Ballroom will have some tables and seating that guests are able to use.

A welcome to country will take place at 7.15pm, followed by short speeches.

There will be a DJ playing in the Common Rooms for part of the night. When the DJ is not playing, there will be music playing in the background. The Common Rooms will have louder, more upbeat music and the ETU ballroom will have quieter music conducive to talking. There will be a live auction, raffle draw, and fundraising games in the ETU ballroom.

The ETU Ballroom and Common Rooms can be loud when there are many people inside. There is a “chill out” space available to attendees for quiet at any time.

Smokers will be directed to the courtyard outside.

We will be serving canapes, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Water will be available. We will cater for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free.

The room will be heated and air purifiers will be in operation. We anticipate it may be cold due to the time of year.

The event will not be scent-free.

The event will not be Auslan interpreted.

Toilets

The toilets are accessible past the lift, at the rear of solidarity hall. All toilets are gender-neutral.

There is one wheelchair accessible toilet directly outside the ETU Ballroom, and one wheelchair accessible toilet downstairs next to the lift.

The cubicles do not have automatic doors, and will need to be opened via a handle. The wheelchair accessible toilets have hand rails.
