The Young Workers Centre hosts monthly events with young workers and activists. For April, we are excited to be visiting the Real Job exhibition opening!
The exhibition will be exploring the value of artists' labour, which is often neglected in Australian society. Artists and artworkers are frequently exploited due to the unregulated nature of the industry, insufficient funding and lack of union coverage. It will be a great opportunity to show some solidarity to our artist comrades!
'REAL JOB' @realjobexhibition – is a two-part group exhibition across The Counihan Gallery @counihangallery and Seventh Gallery @seventhgallery in April 2023, curated by artist, artworker and incredible union activist Madeleine Thornton-Smith @madeleinethorntonsmith We are also lucky to have young art workers and proud unionists Judy Kuo and Lucas Heenan talk about their experience fighting the union fight and making art.
On Wednesday 5th of April, we will be meeting at the Vine Hotel in Richmond at 5:30pm before heading to the Seventh Gallery to view the exhibition opening.
