Ever wanted to change your hospitality workplace?
Join us for a panel and workshop as part of our Changing your Workplace series to discuss going back to hospitality work under a new 'Covid-normal', how we'll use the new laws to keep fighting against wage theft, and what the future of the hospitality industry might look like if young workers get a say.
We know that young workers' voices, especially in regional areas, are not being listened to by decision makers. We need to make our voices heard on the issues that affect our future: from healthcare to housing, climate impacts, finding secure work or getting qualified through an apprenticeship.
In order to lift up youth voices and demand the solutions we know are needed, we need to build the power of young workers - in the workplace in our communities and at the next Federal and State election. All young workers across Victoria - especially regional workers, women, First Nations people and migrant workers - deserve a safe future and a fair go.
Join us on the 18th of November to hear how young workers are taking action at work, in our communities and at the ballot box!
We'll be hearing from young people taking creative approaches to workplace and community organising, and then building our skills together so we are ready to take action for the Federal and State election next year.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned activist or just starting out – everyone is welcome, everyone is needed.
When: Thursday 18th November, 6:00 - 8:00pm
Where: Via Zoom, RSVP now to get the link!
See you then!
Special thanks to our sponsors Maurice and Blackburn.
After so many months, we're getting together for a catch up in the park!
Earlier this year, workers from different industries came together to tackle what we knew was going wrong in apprenticeships. Too often, apprentices are working for cowboy employers with no regard for safety regulation, who make up their own rules and put their employees in danger.
We started the conversation about what studying a trade should be like - that we should be able to expect to learn a trade properly, be safe at work and come home in one piece.
As lock down eases, we're ready to jump back in to having that conversation with more apprentices, and to call for the changes we want to see to make apprenticeships safer and fairer for everyone!
Join us for an apprentice meet up in the park to meet everyone, hear about the campaign and celebrate being able to get together.
Where: Royal Exhibition Gardens, Carlton [a 10 minute walk from Melbourne Central Station]
When: 1pm Sunday 28th November
What to brng: We'll put on a BBQ and drinks - feel free to bring a picnic rug, frisbee, footy etc
This is a COVID-safe event and will be dependent on the public health restrictions in place. Numbers will be limited, so RSVP to make sure you can be there!
