Working Women United - Organising Together for Change

We are stronger together!

Workers in union have recently won same job, same pay laws that stop bosses paying labour hire employees less for doing the same work as directly employed workers, improved rights to convert from casual work into secure work and minimum rights for gig and digital platform workers.

Unions campaigned for these laws to stop employers from undercutting our hard fought wages and working conditions and trying to divide us. Join us at this WRAW Fest online panel where we'll break down terms like 'same job, same pay' and show the real impact of these laws on working women. We'll discuss:

  • How union cabin crew workers stood up to airline bosses and won a 28% pay rise using 'same job, same pay' laws;
  • The new digital/platform and gig worker protections and how they're being used to support 'on demand' workers;
  • The importance of casual and permanent workers sticking together to fight for secure work in higher education and more.

Speakers:

  • Teri O'Toole - Federal Secretary, Flight Attendants Association of Australia (FAAA)
  • Alison Barnes - President, National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)
  • Emily McMillan - National Assistant Secretary, Transport Workers' Union (TWU)

We know that when we unite and fight for the rights of all workers, we win!
