On May 23rd, Maker Community Inc and Women Onsite have partnered to create an amazing opportunity for women to try their hands at welding and carpentry, meet amazing female tradespeople and hear about the Women Onsite program. Held in a community space in Brunswick, this event is a relaxed environment for women who may have never had the chance to be in a workshop before. Women will get a chance to sight timber, use a nail gun and weld cold joints.
If you a woman are considering a career in trades but not sure where to start - this is day is for you. Along with getting to try the tools and have a go, you'll get to speak to working tradeswomen about the apprenticeship process and to the Women Onsite team about future opportunities' and support to help you get started in a fulfilling career in trades.
Carpentry – You will be sighting pieces of timber and using a nailgun to get an understanding of what being a carpenter on big jobs is like
Plumbing – Joining, bending and brazing copper tubes that are used in plumbing systems.
Welding – A chance to weld steel plate with an experienced female welder.
