The Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC) is looking for people who want to make a difference.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced trainers for casual work within the OHS training team. The OHS Training Team is based in Carlton although we work in both metro and regional areas. We are dedicated to advancing the rights of working people across Victoria.

The OHS training team educates and organises working people about their rights and safety at work, supports unions to advance working people’s rights and campaigns for social change through building the capacity of unions and activists.

Duties Include

  • Delivering WorkSafe Provider Developed Training to Health and Safety Representatives
  • Training union officials in the WorkSafe approved ARREO course
  • Delivering the VTHC training packages Family Violence as a Workplace Issue and Safe and Respectful Workplaces
  • Contributing to the maintenance of the continuous improvement systems relating to all training packages
  • Promoting the OH&S unit and its activities
  • Ensuring that the VTHC OHS training meets the requirements to maintain our WorkSafe provider approval
  • Updating your professional development to WorkSafe requirements
  • Other possible courses may come up from time to time.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Certificate IV in Training i.e., Cert IV Training and Assessment
  • Have been a WorkSafe approved trainer for a minimum of two years
  • Have relevant and demonstrated experience in delivering training in an adult learning environment
  • Have a solid, detailed understanding of the OHS Act, in particular all sections relevant to the purpose of HSRs and ARREO’s and their powers, protections and entitlements
  • A passion for working directly with Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs), union officials and the delegates and members who make up our movement
  • Previous experience in union, political or community organising and training, including the application of transformative learning techniques
  • A demonstrated understanding of gender inequality and experience in delivering training on gender equality, gendered violence and family violence
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an ability to build rapport with a variety of people and stakeholders

Salary

The casual trainers report to the Assistant Secretary through the Jobs & Training Team Lead. As an employee of the Victorian Trades Hall Council the casual salary rate would be $55.41 ph plus casual loading. Consultant rates can be discussed.
