Overview

Manual handling basics is a free education program for Victorian employers, supervisors and managers. It is an online program hosted via Microsoft Teams.

If you want learn how to prevent injuries due to hazardous manual handling in your workplace, this program is for you.

Designed exclusively for small and medium businesses in Victoria, the program will:

  • improve your knowledge about hazardous manual handling in the workplace
  • improve your understanding your occupational health and safety (OHS) obligations
  • show you how to spot the early warning signs of an injury due to hazardous manual handling
  • show you how to access WorkSafe's support tools and information
  • teach you how to do a risk assessment
  • help you implement a simple risk management approach to prevent manual handling injuries in your workplace

The sessions are facilitated by experts in ergonomics and OHS, who can provide feedback and advice on managing the risks of hazardous manual handling in your workplace.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible, you must be a Victorian employer, supervisor or manager in a small to medium sized business (1 – 199 staff) with OHS responsibilities.
