Defend Penalty Rates in Regional Victoria

We know that regional and rural Victoria will be hit the hardest if the proposed penalty rate cuts come into effect on July 1.

11,278 people in the Indi community work in retail, hospitality and pharmacy and they are set to lose on average nearly $2000 per year each.

Local pharmacists are set to be amongst the worst hit, losing on average $3256 each per year.

Local MP, Cathy McGowan has so far been silent on the issue but in the next fortnight she will have a vote in Parliament which will determine whether the wages of local people are slashed. We need her to know that local workers need her to vote to block the cuts to penalty rates.

Join us on Tuesday to collect petitions from Wangaratta locals - the more local people who sign the petition, the easier it will be to convince Cathy McGowan to do the right thing by local working people.
