Statement on the resignation of Dave Oliver

1 February 2017

Victorian Trades Hall Council thanks Dave Oliver for his 30 years of service to Australian working people, and wishes him well in his next steps.

Secretary of Victorian Trades Hall Council, Luke Hilakari, praised Mr Oliver’s life of dedication and commitment to working families across Australia, and particularly in Victoria.

“Victorian workers have benefited from Dave Oliver’s solidarity and leadership, not just during his time at the ACTU but for 30 years, beginning with his leadership on the shop floor as a site delegate.”

“Dave’s passion as a union activist has never wavered, and he has led our movement through dramatic change and renewal. We know that even though he’s stepping down from his official role, we can still look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with him in the streets and on the picket line”

“We wish Dave and his family all the best for the future”.
